Help me! My Pokémon Red Japanese just suddenly deleted my save file!

Hi guys! I was playing Pokemon Red in Japanese in my Gameboy Pocket. I saved in Team rocket's hideout and I turned off the console, then when I turned on again the GB (like 2 min later) poof, the file was deleted.

Any idea on what I could do to recover the file?

Unfortunately, the internal cartridge batteries (CR2025/CR1616), die after 20 to 25 years, which is how old most of these cartridges are now. Once the save file is gone, since it is inside of the dead battery-backed SRAM, it cannot be recovered unless you backed it up onto a computer using specialized tools. The only fix is to replace the internal CR2025/CR1616 battery. This method prevents future loss but doesn't restore the future save.

There are a couple of different things that you can do to replace the internal CR2025/CR1616 coin cell battery: Using a soldering Iron if you know how to use one, OR, a pre-tabbed battery and electrical tape. Most local game stores can also do this for you.

i remember this happening because of a dying battery. You can find a YouTube video on how to do it yourself.

One more thing; the good news is if you do it yourself you won't have to think about doing it again for a long while.
