Not by how useful they are or how many advantages they hold

Rank them by your personal opinion

It could be this type has the most of your favorite Pokémon, the type is just cool, or you just like the type

You can rank them from least to top or top to least

I'll be going the first option

18: Fairy. It's never been interesting to me and I don't like many Fairy type Pokémon. Sylveon and Gardevoir are decent. Grimmsnarl and Tinkaton are cool. I love Dachsbun though. It carried my first playthrough. I've recently found a liking for Alolan Ninetales, though. Other than that, though, I don't like Fairy. The only reason people use it is its advantage over Dragon types.

17: Rock. Most Rock types are ugly. Yeah, they're powerful, but I want it to look cool, too. Midnight Lycanroc and Tyranitar are the only two awesome Rocks. Garganacl it's decent.

16: Bug. Beedrill. That's where the list of awesome Bug types end. Scizzor and Kleavor are alright, but not enough to like.

15: Normal. I can think of some good Normal types, but there aren't much. I wouldn't actually use any of them, either.

14: Steel. There are some of them that are good, but I dislike the majority. If Samurott was a Steel type, this would get ranked higher for me.

13: Flying. I can't really think of many amazing Flying, but the ones I can (Starapter, Corviknight, and Charizard) are cool enough to put it here.

12: Fighting. Not the best Pokémon, but I can think of some pretty good ones. Plus, Fightibg type attacks are some of the best.

11: Ground. Like Rock types, ugly but powerful. However, Ground type attacks are amazing and Garchomp is a Ground type. Easily puts them here.

10: Grass. Not many goof Grass types, but there aren't many bad ones, either. Before Meowscarada I can't think of any Grass types I actually liked.

9: Water. Same reason as Grass, but I have more Water types I like.

8: Dragon. I don't really care for the Dragon type, but there are quite a few Dragon types I like. Garchomp and Dragapult are the main two (if Megas aren't included. If they are then a certain X is definitely the reason).

7: Electric. I don't really have a reason why. I just like some of them and I think the type is cool.

6: Ice. There are some pretty cool Ice types out there, but @Lonestar85 has made me realize how useful they really are. In their words, "Ice is King."

5: Dark. I think that there are a lot of awesome Dark types and their attacks are some of the most fun to play with.

4: Poison. I'll be honest. I just like Poison.

3: Psychic. I think it is a fun type, cool Pokémon, and useful attacks.

2: Ghost. Almost all of their designs are killer and just flat out session awesome. Some of my favorite Pokémon and attacks are Ghost type.

1: Fire. I didn't realize until I joined the Forums how much I love Fire types. The majority of my favorite Pokémon are this type and all my battle strategies use this type. Definitely my favorite.

I look forward to seeing y'all's lists!

In general my top 5 by type would be:

    1. Dragon

    2. Darkness

    3. Psychic

    4. Fire

    5. Lightning

*But It's hard to rank this way, because some specific Pokemon that I really like aren't in this top 5 nor in this order.

I need to correct what I said about Normal

    Very few I would use

Starapter is part Normal and that's what I use in D/P

I use Lopunny only if Mega Evolution is available (I don't like ordinary but love Mega)

Oh boy… this will be hard after my top three.

    1. Fairy. The reason Fairy is so good is due in large part to having weaknesses that aren’t that common or that are not strong offensively to easily take them down. You then factor in Pokémon like Togekiss(Serene Grace), Clefable(Magic Guard), Gardevoir(Trace or Pixilate on Mega), Sylveon(Pixilate), along with Primarina, Mimikyu, Alolan Ninetales or the Tapu’s and you got a solid collection of Pokémon that are difficult to beat.
    2. Water. Can do whatever Grass can do but better and it’s lone weakness is Electric because Grass can be countered with Ice coverage or Ice STAB in some cases. Gyarados is probably the most well known Water type but Swampert, Vaporeon, Milotic, Iron Bundle and Palafin are some notable examples.
    3. Steel. A Defensve stalwart since it debuted that has grown in importance with Fairy domination. Some personal favorites are Magnezone, Excadrill, Steelix and Metagross.
    4. Ground. Has Earthquake that is particularly deadly in doubles if you can avoid the Friendly Fire. Sometimes paired with Steel like in the case with Steelix and Excadrill. Other notables are Garchomp(ditto Dragon but it’s a Ground type too), Toedscruel and Gliscor.
    5. Electric. Biggest reason is the check on Water types and opposing Flying. Personal favorite is Jolteon and Pikach/Raichu as notable mention.
    6. Fighting. An Offensive stalwart and the reason it’s this high is that its usually the biggest check on Dark, Rock and Steel. Gallade is my personal favorite here after getting Sharpness in Gen 9. Really hits like a truck.
    7. Fire. The other check against Steel and is immune to Burns. Would have it higher but I generally don’t use Fire starters or Fire types if I can help it. Personal favorite is Vulpix/Ninetales.
    8. Flying. The way to get around Ground is to avoid it altogether and checks Fighting at the same time. Not a big Flying type user but I do like Gliscor and Honchkrow
    9. Ice. Way higher than people would place it but it’s my personal favorite typing. Snow really helped it and it has my overall favorite Pokémon in Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales
    10. Dark. This typing has become quite good in recent years. Honchkrow and Umbreon are personal favorites.
    11. Ghost. Not fond of the Ghost type but I know a solid typing when I see one. Froslass and Chandelure are my top Ghosts.
    12. Poison. Could be higher given it counters Fairy but it’s offensively weak and has few solid Pokémon I like. Drapion and Skuntank are pretty much it for me.
    13. Psychic. Fallen on really hard times since Dark came into existence. Other types can handle what it can but better. Personal favorites are Gardevoir, Gallade and Delphox.
    14. Grass. Why this remains a starter typing I honestly don’t know. Bulbasaur is still my top favorite but Sprigs is climbing my list.
    15. Rock. Competitively it’s solid but personally I hate it. Most Pokémon I’d use are just too slow or require Trade evolution and that irks me. Lycanroc is probably the only one I’d use.
    16. Normal. Nothing flashy but also nothing going for it since Return was removed. Often paired with Flying typing too but I’d give Porygon-Z some recognition.
    17. Dragon. Shocking I know but seriously if they didn’t have obscene base stats, would you use them given Fairy type exists? Dragonite for me here.
    18. Bug. It really needs help and I honestly don’t know how other than to give it an advantage over Fairy. Butterfree and Volcarona are my personal favorites.

Psychic, dragon, fire. That is the order for my top three and I only had the energy for the top three.

You say people only use fairy to beat Dragon?
not true. I use Sylveon because she is vampire girl.

    Okay

    Most people

Or people that choose types based on strategy

You're like me and just play the game

But there are people that will use specific types because of the advantages they holds

    That's what Fairy usually is

Actually, I do make competitive move sets and EV spreads, etc etc. But I have two rules- “how to use insert name here competitive” must never be searched, henceforth each set is coming from me and therefore making things my own. Two- I will never use a Pokémon I don’t like just because it’s stronger. I will only use my own team. So this way, it’s harder, but way more rewarding. I’ve only got one into action before tho- Expert Libre Cinderace, and he worked pretty good, but he needed more Attack, so I started changing it up. I also used a prototype Vampire Girl Sylveon (meaning just moveset on some random one I have) and it wasn’t half bad. Each of my movesets have names- Expert Libre Cinderace, Vampire Girl Sylveon, Trapmaster Decidueye, Tsunami Tatsugiri, Sharp Slasher Absol, Dirty Fighting Absol. I still need a Raichu moveset, but I’m waiting for us to find out Raichu X’s ability is. I would also like to make a Mega Z absol set, but again, waiting on ability. Plz plz plz Super Luck!
