If you could create a new Pokémon type, what would it be and what characteristics would it have?

It can be hard to create a new type with such a complicated system already in play. All three times they've introduced a new type, they changed at least one Pokémon or at least one move to that type. If I had to choose, I think I'll go with a Cosmic type. Pokémon of this type will probably typically have high Sp. Atk and Sp. Def stats.

I'm not sure what type advantages and disadvantages it would have, so here's what I came up with. It may have to be revised a bit.
Psychic and Fairy would probably resist it.
Ground, Rock and Grass would probably be weak to it.
It would probably be weak to Steel, Flying, and Psychic.
It would probably resist Ground, Fire, Dark, and Fighting.

Cosmic Power, Gravity, Lunar Dance, Lunar Blessing, Moonblast, and Moonlight would become Cosmic-type moves.

Finally, several Pokémon will have their types changed, primarily ones from space.

    Clefairy (Fairy/Cosmic), Clefable (Fairy/Cosmic), Starmie (Water/Cosmic), Ledian (Bug/Cosmic), Cleffa (Fairy/Cosmic), Solrock (Rock/Cosmic), Lunatone (Rock/Cosmic), Jirachi (Steel/Cosmic), Deoxys (Psychic/Cosmic), Cresselia (Cosmic), Gothita (Psychic/Cosmic), Gothorita (Psychic/Cosmic), Gothitelle (Psychic/Cosmic), Elgyem (Psychic/Cosmic), Beheeyem (Psychic/Cosmic), Minior (Rock/Cosmic), Cosmog (Cosmic), Cosmoem (Cosmic), Solgaleo (Cosmic/Steel), Lunala (Cosmic/Ghost), Celesteela (Steel/Cosmic), Necrozma (Cosmic/Psychic), Dottler (Bug/Cosmic), and Orbeetle (Bug/Cosmic).

Its role is mostly fulfilled with Psychic, but I still tried my hardest to make it unique and not just a Psychic clone.

Whatever we get I think we need something to bring psychic back to its former glory and take the crown of matchups away from fairy.

So something that is weak to psychic but is super effective against fairy.

Maybe this type list could work:

Weak to psychic, dragon, and bug.

Resists fairy, dark, ghost, and steel.

Not very effective against psychic, grass, and bug.

Super effective against fairy, dark, ghost, and steel.

I don’t know what element would fill these rolls but it would even out the meta type wise. Now psychic and dragon could have a little bit of the glory they had before dark and fairy types came in. Also fairy and steel types would lose some of their insane power especially Pokémon like crowned sword Zacian would be double weak to it. Also bug and grass need a little more love being so frail.

Interesting, but makes cosmic different enough from psychic. From what it seems, its similar to normal and flying. If it happens to have a space theme it will be cosmic but is really similar to psychic. Additionally many psychic elements even in the real world tie to space.
