We Need To Take Action
The problems in pokemon unite are completely unacceptable.
Firstly, the balancing of pokemon has been questionable. Ever since unite's public test server was taken down, most releases have been either really broken or utterly useless. The implementation of megas has been a huge let down for the community and seem like low-effort releases which they can produce quickly rather than new and interesting content. All the megas have also been completely unbalanced and far too strong, and they took far too long to be patched. The meta feels completely unbalanced and patches feel to infrequent given the condition of any new addition to the game.
Next, there was the update that added unite licence journeys. I wasn't opposed to the update when it was initially proposed, as it seemed like a potentially interesting change that could help the game evolve and develop more well rounded rosters for many players. When it was implemented though, it was possibly the worst update the game has ever faced. Our time as a player is no longer being valued, whether or not someone pays money. No matter how much someone spends, the progression towards getting new pokemon is ridiculous.
then there is the crashing. I play on android, which is where this has occurred. From the research I have done, most of/all android users have this problem. They aren't minor crashes either - I have to restart my phone whenever I try to load the game because otherwise I can't use it. I have also seen players who are experiencing problems on switch. both 1 and 2, involving crashes in game that frequently cause matches to end early.
Then there's the cheating. I've seen and multiple accounts of players who level up too quickly or deal huge amounts of damage that they shouldn't be capable of doing, primarily in the ranked environment. I haven't been able to see this myself because I haven't been able to access the game for two weeks, but it is still a major problem for the game. It could be bugs rather than hacking, but the result is still the same - a game that feels unplayable and unfair.
And with all of these problems, we haven't heard a thing from the developers. nothing on their YouTube, nothing on the patch notes in game. It really feels like we're being ignored.
We should take action to make Tencent/Timi do something about all of these issues.
everyone should stop playing the game. If the game has a big enough drop in players, it sends a message that something is wrong.
For people experiencing crashes, the game can be reported to google play for a potential breach of terms of service due to the magnitude of the crash and how it affects the usability of the rest of the device. This could have Google require the Devs to submit a fix.
If you paid money recently, and don't want to lose value on your purchase, you could also request a refund from google play/ app store. If you are experiencing crashes you should get a full refund, but there is also a case for getting a refund if you are facing persistent hacking and bugs often that causes purchases to lose value or usefulness.
We need to send a message to the game Devs that they need to fix the game, and we need to send this message as powerfully as possible.
