yeah when i first faced cynthia it was brutal i lost my first to tries and had to level all my team up by 10 levels to be a able to beat her

Cinderace (Cinder): I was really young and picked ‘scorchbunny’ because I liked it when he ran around on the field. I beat my first gym with barely any other Pokemon, then when we lost to Nessa (…a lot of times…) we kept going at it. He evolved into Raboot, Then we beat Kabu and he evolved again into Cinderace. Instantly, I just loved the fire rabbit. He’s the brave voice in my head. A Pokémon that I can say introduced me to Pokèmon training.
Raichu (Spark): He’s sort of evolved as I got older. From Pichu when I was little, Pikachu for a while, and now Raichu when I’m a bit older. Even when I don’t intend to use him, I end up doing so. He feels like a sort of way to go back to being younger.
Tatsugiri (Tidal): I was starting to get depressed by Paldea’s pathetic Pokemon designs when I got to the last titan. When Dondozo appeared, I was confused- I was pretty certain Dondozo were Water type only. Then Tatsugiri came out, and I was amazed. When I captured one and read the Dex entry- he is the smartest dragon- that felt like seeing something reflected at me.
Absol (Whisper): I am not a very lucky person. Always in the wrong place at the wrong time with the worst idea, especially with my siblings. Absol, same as me, when he only tries to help, he gets rejected and shunned. I am generally considered kind of weird, and that’s lead me into a sort of lonely state more than a few times. Absol is also lonely and… well, kind of rejected. He reflects being a third-culture kid back at me.
Sylveon (Vera): Sylveon- on the surface- is pretty, cute, pink. But she opens her mouth- fangs. Weird, right? She kind of reminds me of my irl crush. She’s pretty, but also she showed me Warriors (which can get pretty dark), her horror short story spooked me, and she also drew a kinda scary picture once.
Decidueye (Katniss): Was the powerhouse of my team in Ultra Moon. At first, I just thought, "Well, my favorite Alola starter, pretty cool". Then I made it to the League, and I was really honestly getting nervous. Then she popped out. "You look at the first Pokémon you chose on your journey, and are reminded of how far you've come…" That gave me courage. Soon after, I read Hunger Games, and Katniss always gave me courage. So it stuck.
My whole team has sentimental value to me. I could never use a Pokémon I didn't care about.
