Paxton enters the Lab silently, immediately moving to the elevator. There is no wait after he presses the up button, the doors opening instantly. He steps and the doors close. The elevator begins to rise.
Here I am, Paxton thinks. Another Anti-Ange meeting. Why does this one feel so... wrong?
The doors open and reveal a room with a table in the center. Sitting at this table are Emma, Mable, Grisham, and Griselle. Paxton takes the open spot next to Emma.
"Took you long enough," Griselle complains, glaring at the boy.
"Sorry," Paxton exclaims. "I had to wait for everyone to go to bed. And Naveen is a night owl, so it takes him a long time before he sleeps."
"Let's ignore his tardiness and focus at the topic at hand," Mable states, stopping Griselles from arguing further. "Paxton. Have you caught our little friend in anything bad, yet?"
Paxton shakes his head. "Absolutely nothing."
The whole room groans with disappointment. "We've been watching her for a little over a month! How have we not caught her being evil," Grisham growls, his eyebrows furrowed.
Paxton sighs. "I'm starting to agree with the other," he says hesitantly. The whole room looks at him with shock. "It's like Grisham says. We've been keeping an eye on her for a month and she hasn't done anything. The only reason I can think is that she's changed. Plus, she's saved mine and the others's life on multiple occasions. I just think she's good now."
"What are you saying," Mable questions. Paxton sighs.
"I'm done," he admits. "I trust her."
Emma nods. "Well, I can't say I trust her, but I trust you. If you think she's good, I'll take your word for it. I'm dropping the case."
The two then get up, exiting the room and going down the elevator.
…
"I still don't trust her," Griselle grumbles.
"Neither do I," Grisham agrees.
"I don't think she's bad," Mable states. "But I still want something to... play with." She smile maniacally. "We're not done, right?"
The couple shake their heads. "Not until that monster is off the streets," Grisham confirms.
