-Save game right in front of it
-Press A to battle it
-If it's not shiny, soft reset to the last save by pressing L, R, and Select
-Repeat last 2 steps until you get it.
Shiny locks on Legendaries were added in BW, but in the games before that, you can hunt them like any other Pokémon. There wasn't permanent Autosave to mess it up either.

Same, I have 2 pokemon left BUT there time rift pokemon. I need a rift to appear in the Mountain region, but it is taking forever.

SV: Shiny Growlithe. It was the only pokemon that I took the time to shiny hunt.
Lets Go Pikachu: Shiny tentacruel, also my first shiny pokemon.
GO: Shiny Landorus.
