What Generation and what time is Pokémon Z-A?

Is Pokémon Z-A's time beyond gen 9-10+? Cuz there are many futuristic inventions already. How come?

    Generations have to do with when the game was released in the real world, so it's still considered gen 9. As for futuristic stuff, I'm still not sure when the game takes place chronologically.

    Do you mean like in timeline? Because I think it's generally present time.

    Other than obviously post XY, I don't think we have seen anything to indicate when in the timeline it takes place.
