Do you think the developers actually care about the game?
So far for the past 3 years every time a new update drops the game is either a complete buggy mess or the developers somehow find a way to ruin the game. In the most recent update from journey together, you now have to wait 6 months to get all the new full art cards and gold cards which is kinda stupid. I don't understand that change one bit. I like my flashy cool cards so for the developers to do this seems pretty silly. The most recent update to drop now adds 10 cards a pack now, which is good, but they nerf the amount of trade credits you get by 50% without even telling us in the patch notes. It seems like the developers are trying to find a way to make new players NOT play the game which is kinda dumb and now new players seem to struggle making new decks. I'd like to know everyone's thoughts on this. Do you think the developers actually cares about the state of their game, or do yall think they just gave up and completely hate the state of their game? If the developers actually read this, take this as positive criticism, because we the community/players only want positive things for the game. We shouldn't always have to complain but we do more than you think.

Tbh they are lucky to still have this many players... I honestly believe that the main reason the game is still running is just because limitless tournaments exist, otherwise way more players would had left… including me.

I think the developers care but the parent company less so. The game itself takes resources to keep running (pocket and live, anyway) but they get no yield from it (live in particular)
The way it seems to work is that by buying physical cards you can scan codes to get digital ones.
I think their biggest concerns are that if they make it "too easy" to get the best cards then players have less incentive to keep playing.
This can be backwards thinking because A) a lot of players want their favorite cards, not necessarily "the best"-- I wasted all my trader points looking for Beedrill because that was one of my favorites in Red Version and paid no attention to "the best" (as one example)
B) There are multiple strategies and de facto multiple "best cards" that specialize in different strategies. It wouldn't be enough to have singular best cards, but an entire deck to support it, comprised of many different best cards-- stretched across different decks
I think their idea is: "make it more of a grind to get cards which will make players more proud of what they have when they get there"
This can be true and it's an AMAZING feeling to finally have your dream deck after all the work it took to father it's components
On the other hand, too much grind for so little payoff is demoralizing. If I, as an example, want 5 different elemental decks compromised of only Kanto Cards-- which, from a pool of over 2000 is notoriously difficult to pull from boosters, I need to grind trade points for it.
If I realize I need to grind a solid 6 months to make 2 new decks, I'll lose hope and possibly quit.
But IMO this game is, in general, well built. The sheer amount of options and different Pokemon combos (do we still call it that?) that you can pull off with all the new cards is mind boggling.
This game tickles something in your brain. After shutting it off you're still occasionally thinking about deck builds.
"If I had this tool, I could negate this effect... With some ignition energy and rare candies I could evolve and attack fast... I wonder what other Pokemon I could use in this deck?"
TL/DR: Yes, I do think the devs care. But I don't necessarily believe their supported as well as they should be by their parent companies and many of the unwanted changes could be from corporate oversight, rather than the devs themselves
That essentially their boss from home office shows up complaining about the lack of new cards being printed so they demand that what's left be rationed with tighter drop percentages to compensate and force players to buy more boosters IRL
