Mega Dragonite revealed

So, I'm super happy with Mega Dragonite, because it means a lot to me that Dragonite will Mega Evolve. Dragonite is a super special Pokémon to me, I'm really super happy, and now, the most special and important Pokémon to me have something special in the Pokémon world, like: Vulpix and Zorua: regional form (Alola and Hisui) Pichu and Oshawott: regional evolution (Alolan Raichu and Hisui Samurott) Mimikyu and Mew: own Z-Move Eevee and Lapras: G-Max form Now, Bulbasaur and Dragonite: Mega Evolution Really, I'm very excited and I feel like we're in golden times with Pokémon. I love this feeling. Pokémon means a lot to me, and I'm very happy with today's Pokémon Presents.

Well... I'm glad you like it.
Dragonite has long felt like a disappointing end to the Dratini line to me. I really like the blue eastern dragon design of its first two forms, only to pivot to an orange western dragon for its final form. It barely resembles its previous forms. It feels like Dragonite and Gyarados got swapped at some point, much as is speculated for Butterfree and Venomoth.
This new mega form alludes to its earlier forms with its tail and feathered wings, but that feels like rubbing salt in the wound. And putting feathered wings on the head of a creature that already has wings on its back feels superfluous and silly. Wouldn't that inhibit its flight more than assist it? I would prefer that its regular wings became feathered, rather than adding an extraneous set on its head.
