Niantic Kids won't log in

I recently created a kids account for my 6 year old on my active pokemon account. The kids account is active, have checked the password twice, and all the permissions are active. When I try to log my child onto pokemon go Niantic kids it tells me "Username or password is incorrect". I cannot figure out what may be the issue….. please help
