Shiny hunting tips

I'm new to shiny hunting in SV, and I really want to catch a shiny Growlithe in the new mass outbreak event. However, I've tried shiny hunting before, and I kind of suck at it. So I'd greatly appreciate some tips.

Boosted events are a great time to get a shiny! What I like to do for those is knock out 60 Pokemon of the outbreak species in the area. This is when the shiny chance is at a good rate. Then, I open up a picnic and leave to reset the spawns and check them to see if any are shiny. Then it’s rinse and repeat until one shows up. In areas, you can also bike away until the Pokemon respawn instead of picnics, but it’s personal preference and one may be faster or slower depending on the area. As a general tip, also check out the movesets. I had a fail during the Starly event when I found one that used Final Gambit. Having a good Pokemon for catching and some quick balls(if you don’t mind the aesthetic) can help too. I like using a Gallade with False Swipe and Hypnosis, even though the latter misses way more often than I’d like.

Completing the paldean pokedex was the easiest thing for me. I just got some friends and traded the ones I didn't have or were version exclusives.

@Candy0_o, I'm sorry, but what does this have to do with shiny hunting?

One of the teachers gives you a shiny charm if you finish the Pokédex .

some of the easier dex stuff can also be filled by surprise trading too. It just can make things a bit more annoying if you go for completion in home unless you keep them all.

the charm+ sandwiches both help shiny hunts and long term the charm is worth getting if you want to do hunts and don’t do full odds hunts, but I wouldn’t sweat it too much either way. The boosted events have pretty good odds as is so if you just want to get to hunting that’s not a huge deal.

I personally use sandwiches, preferably near towns and away from walls. I also KO ~60 beforehand.
