Hello Trainers.

The Pokémon TCG Live game client will be updated on April 23, 2025. The game will be offline starting at 8 AM PT (15:00 UTC) and is estimated to be down for 8 hours. Please see below for the list of changes:

Gameplay/Battle

  • Major updates to the first-time user experience (FTUE) for 2025. Players who are currently going through or have already completed the FTUE will not see this change.
    • All battles have been rewritten to reflect the new rotation.
    • Training curriculum has been improved and expanded.
    • Additional open play during the FTUE has been added to provide practice experience.
    • At the end of the FTUE, players are placed on the Casual page, not the Ranked page.
    • Players receive new starter decks, two of which are used in the FTUE (Charizard ex and Pikachu ex).

Cards

  • Fixed an issue that was allowing Iono's Kilowattrel's (JTG #055) Flashing Draw Ability to be used when there were no cards in the deck.
  • Fixed an issue where using Slowbro's (SVI #043) Strange Behavior Ability had an animation issue when many damage counters were shown.

Competitive

  • Adjusted Ranked Ladder Elo behavior based on observed trends to improve matchmaking performance, with the intent to increase the odds over time that newer players will be matched appropriately against similarly skilled players (Master League Elo is not affected by this change).

Economy

  • Introducing a third daily quest—providing more ways to progress faster in the Battle Pass.
  • Quests are more rewarding! Quests now reward 100 Trainer Points each.

General

  • Fixed an issue where disabling match timers in a friend match wasn't working.
  • Fixed an issue where deck names were not being saved on macOS.
