Devolution Broke My Card

I was playing a low-rank game, and when devolution was played, it took my Blaziken down to Torchic, but I made it so the card only showed as white and couldn't be interacted with on my side.
Luckily, it only took a round or 2 for the other player to get the energy together and knock it out, but I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue also?
