I've disproved the Cubone Backstory (I think)

So Cubone's story is that Cubone was a Charmander that lost its parent and now walks around with a Charizard skull on fending for itself. However, according to some Charmander cards, Charmander would die if the flame on his tail went out, however Cubone doesn't have a flame so that would make him dead right?

I don't mean anything personal to Cubone fans, I'm just saying…

I was thinking about that, I guess Cubon/Charmander evolved into Chameleon, However there is no Charizard equivalent (I don't know if that answered your question or not)
