Black & White Sequels?

Recently I saw a video about bad news for sequels of the 2. I didn't watch it though, but it makes me concerned. I think B&W need to get Switch 2 sequels, just it makes me think they may not judging from what I saw. I'm…overtly obsessed with B&W. I understand they're most likely working on Z-A right now, but even if they say a B&W sequel will come out in 2026, I'll still be relieved to hear that and anticipate its release. Spent a whole year waiting for Z-A, but 2024 flew by pretty fast.

Either way, what do you guys think? Will B&W get sequels on the Switch 2? If so, what would you like to see? And what would you guys be excited for? I can't handle my obsession so I'd HAVE to get both games. And also…what would their sequels even be called?

A sequel isn't likely unless we get a remake that includes both BW1 and BW2. We might get a Legends game though.

Plus, it probably wouldn't sell very well.

What does this mean? You saw a video somewhere but didn't watch it? Did you infer its content from the title or thumbnail?

    Whatever the case...

Gen 5 is my favourite generation, but I don't want Game Freak to make a sequel or a remake in their current form.

In the case of a remake I think it would be another BDSP.

For a sequel, I don't think they understand why its fans like the duology in the first place. The games were failures in their eyes, so I think they would try to "fix" them by bringing them in line with the rest of the modern series.

I'd prefer that they leave the generation alone and untarnished at this point. I don't want them to do to gen 5 what they did to gen 4.

Oof sorry, I wasn't making myself clear, but I clearly meant remake and not sequel. G5's my favorite generation, and I don't care how bad the remake is, I just wanna play it.

Even if you want to talk about a sequel, I think a remake is more likely, and therefore worth discussing. I would definitely prefer a sequel at some point, but remakes are easier to make and sell, since all of the design work is done and fans already know the game.

It is always worth maintaining a critical eye, even for franchises you like. Especially for franchises you like. I have the most criticism for some of my favourite games of all time.

It is a very dangerous attitude to simply be prepared to buy anything an IP holder puts out, regardless of quality. I think TPC believing that they could sell anything with "Pokémon" written on it is what led Pokémon to its present, sorry state in the first place.

Unfortunately, looking at SwSh and SV sales numbers, for most of the fanbase, it seems they were right. Then again, fanbases on the whole, particularly the larger ones, can be slow to react to dissatisfaction with a franchise. If people are unhappy with SV, it might not be reflected in sales until Z-A or even the next game or beyond, assuming GF do nothing to right the ship.

Criticism should not only be reserved for things you do not like. It should be applied to the things you do like as well. It is not inherently a negative thing. It is the means by which we come to understand why we love the things we love in the first place, and ensure that future installments will be even better.
