Not getting compensated for teammates idling

There have been several times now when the game recognizes an idling player, but it's too late in the game so if the team surrenders everyone loses points. I understand that stuff happens and it's not always the player's fault! It's not fair that the rest of us have to pay for it just because they didn't idle until there were 3 minutes left in the game. I understand that's probably the case to prevent people from idling so the team doesn't have consequences for losing, but they're are other punishments for idling, and it would be better if they were not allowed to participate in ranked matches for an hour or something instead.
