It wasn't too bad for me and same nowadays (or at least that's what I remember; I might have boosted the framerate in my mind) when I play Violet, I think the worst it got was when the game didn't load in my picnic table for the entire duration of the picnic leading to me making/dropping the ingredients onto the bread when I made a sandwich.
