Would it be nice if the core games were combined?

Normally the core RPG games are two versions per Gen, each with their exclusive Pokemon to be able to get, meaning that one can't complete his/her Pokedex unless trading with other players. Because of this… Shouldn't they allow you to get all characters yourself otherwise, with the pair of games in a Gen being combined as one game, like literally Red & Blue or X & Y? =O I'm not sure about the "third" version from a few early Gens, such as Emerald and Platinum, as I've not played them. But I assume even they don't allow one to capture every Pokemon by himself as well? I think I read about that somewhere online.

I’m against that it has been doing that since the beginning of the franchise and I mean one of the most exciting things before the game comes out at least for me to pick what version I’m choosing

People are willing to buy the same game twice, Nintendo aren't going to stop selling it to them.

Every other gaming franchise on Earth wishes they could get away with it, but the practice would rightly be called out as exploitative if they did it.

But Pokémon have always done it. So brain off, wallet out, buy your double pack.

Oh, and don't forget to buy the DLC for both games, too.

I also like the idea. In the original games, it made sense to have separate versions in order to force kids to be social, but now we have the internet, so we no longer have actual interactions. It would make sense to start making only one game. (Also, the third versions don't have all the Pokemon in the Pokedex.)

The formula Pokémon has for having version exclusive Pokémon is sound and quite rational. Players often look at version exclusives and use that to determine which version to get. From which, we then trade Pokémon to complete the Pokedex(if we so choose since imagine trying to complete a living/national Dex at this point). The fact we must trade incorporates people having to communicate with one another. This interaction bolsters activity and interest within the game. This interaction is primarily responsible for Pokémon's longevity in my eyes while the addition of Shiny Pokémon, Breeding and PvP in multiple formats are the others. You take away version exclusivity and you detract a major component of what makes Pokémon one of the most profitable and popular franchises Nintendo has.

Tempting but it would require a large amount of memory.
