Monetization/Gambling is Getting Ridiculous

I was okay with the game having a battlepass and over priced cosmetics when I started, but it feels like they care more about making money than making a fun game at this point. Rather than making balance changes at a reasonable time (look at how long we had to deal with EX licenses), they'll just formulate more ways to monetize the game. Since I started playing, they've added:

  • Pay to play new pokemon a week early
  • Gambling for old battlepass cosmetics (with the facade that you can get things for free)
  • Smaller event battlepasses
  • Pay to rank (rank protection cards)
  • Cosmetics for buying/spending money (usually stickers)
  • Gambling system to get a new tier of holowear
  • Pay to GAMBLE BETTER (chest upgrade cards)
  • Cosmetics and rewards for continually spending premium currency

They'll even shamelessly buff pokemon that are featured in the battlepass just to artificially boost sales. When is it going to stop? I'm tempted just to uninstall if all I have to look forward to is new pokemon, the same recycled content everyone is sick of, and new ways to throw away money. I can't think of any other game that's gotten this disgusting level of microtransactions. What new low are they going to aim to hit next?

YES!!! I am so glad people see this issue the way I do!!! It's so annoying! the game has just descended into chaos. The greedy devs do not actually care about the game anymore, they just want to make more money. It's really disgusting to see.

I pay to play because I enjoy supporting the game. But I agree. Should paying solve my problem of not climbing? Also rank protection cards are demoralizing because it will allow some less skillful players to get through climbing to ranks they don't belong. Which shouldn't exist. How many? Maybe 5-10% maybe more. We need the data.

Remember when held items was the worst thing that happened to unite? Well now we got pay2win mon that got emergency buffed into an all rounder.

Good thing i don't care anymore about unite and stopped paying since last membership before it got gutted.

I am curious how will unite sink even lower and getting away with the most horrendous practices? I guess netherlands and belgium banning unite is unite first leap to their doom

I completely agree! I enjoy supporting games i enjoy. I spent a lot of money before on games because I wanted them to keep the game going, but when the Devs have repeatedly not adjusted things the players wanted, blatantly installing pay to win tactics, and not improving game quality. That's when I don't spend a time.

Look at games like fortnite, it's wasn't pay to win or pay to play even... and it blew up because they kept trying to adjust to the players wants and needs. It did change later on but still the game has lasted this long.

Devs are literally just getting more and more greedy and letting the game quality get worse and worse. They already lost a big chunk of their base players because of it.

A few social media players still try to bump it up for their views and kick backs at times for the games or features they get to try. But even with some of them they stopped playing because of this.

Did enjoying the game go away because you feel the game shaped to you in a way that felt like a system on its own or just in a way that the devs didn't see coming?
