Ceruledge's Swords

I can understand that Ceruledge's swords are made from ghost energy but there are many questions that the creators deliberately leave out. Can its swords be sheathed so it can be safe without harming its trainer let alone other pokemon even by accident? In a latest episode preview i noticed that Ceruledge's blades got smaller. What happen when Ceruledge cannot be able to unleashed its flaming swords? so many questions over a single detail.
