How does Acid Armor work?
In-universe, how does acid armor work? It says the user liquifies itself, and depending on the generation, this either looks like the Pokemon melting into poison-y acid or just liquifying like water (temporarily), which then boosts defense. Any ideas how that works in-universe?

If you only play the games then it probably will depend on who took over the game design lead duties that week. But the anime might be more consistent. I thought about it a lot(if it also affects catch rates) and I think they turn into a toxic form of themselves and return purified.

As shown in the anime, Pokémon like Vaporeon and Phione disappear when they're in water. Though as recent as Horizons, Alcremie just melts which increases their resistance. I mean…you're not doing much to a puddle.
