With Violet, outbreaks and sandwiches are the best way to hunt shinies for me personally. Also having a few open boxes to set aside for eggs and hatching and reset. Though it can test your patience cough Zorua cough
Trading is helpful with finding some mons but doing them via surprise trade is the riskiest. There are too many people trading hacked shinies especially with url nicknames. You don't want to get in trouble for that ESPECIALLY if you want to battle with them in online competitions.
There are various youtube videos that has multiple guides for how to shiny hunt and hatching eggs via Masuda method. But the key is patience.

I know a lot of kids that play so they don't know which ones are special so I've got a lot of shinies🤣🤣🤣
