I just battled this guy, using some kind of poison deck with all the shrouded fable poison types, okidogi ex and whatnot. But he used this one ability from one of his benched Pokemon to move poison damage around, and I had Manaphy on my bench. Yet he was still able to move the damage to the benched Pokemon?! How? I thought Manaphy protected the benched Pokemon???

Your opponent most likely used a benched Munkidori Adrena-Brain ability to move damage counters (not poison) from their Pokemon to yours. Manaphy does not protect against damage counters… it only prevents damage done to your benched Pokemon by attacks from your opponents Pokemon.
