Newer to TCG, how can I spice up my deck?

I built this deck based off of mimikyu (Apperently very controversial card) and Gardevoir because quite frankly theyre some of my favorite (ever other one I like seems to be banned so..) but I’m having trouble setting up efficiently, I’m finding by the time I’m to a decent setup the opponent has 1 prize card remaining and it’s just an automatic win for them, I don’t want any “burn mimikyu” or anything like that (seems to be common in a lot of forums) just some genuine advice

I think you really need Manaphy, there are many popular decks that run Radiant Greninja and Regidrago VStar deck usually have Kyurem that can annihilate your low hp Pokemon if you don't have bench protection.

And Mimikyu it's still not bad, but now many decks got Canceling Cologne because the annoying Iron Thorns ex deck, so Mimikyu is a bit less effective now.

You should play the deck if you like for sure, but I would say that Gardevoir ex based decks are not in a favorable spot now.

I would run a deck that counters Iron Thorns ex for now, just until the meta is less volitile, you could also run a Flutter Mane or Canceling Cologne to make Iron Thorns ex less effective.

A general rule of thumb is to either play or counter the deck that wins the first event of a new set until you see the meta spread out.

I guess I never understood the mechanics of manaphy on how it worked, I did update my trainers a bit and subbed de evolution and crisis punch for evolution, added a hero cape, pokemon catcher (I think) and some others which def helped a bit

@Q_shroom in short Manaphy protects your bench Pokemon from your opponent’s damage from attacks only, it doesn't protect from damage counters or if they use Canceling Cologne (during that turn).
