Actually it's based on a small Parrot or a Parakeet, most likely a Monk Parakeet (an invasive species that forms flocks in Spain and has similar colour variations). It might also be based on a Cockatoo because of the feathers on its head. (My source for this is Bulbapedia)

I don't really get how you'd mistake it for a Macaw since Macaws usually are really big and have a huge, dark beak, and colour variations in one species aren't common (while other smaller species like Ringneck parrots or budgie come in many colours). Squawkabilly is pretty obviously a medium or small-size parrot.

I agree with @clasingla fakemon would be incredibly confusing to any newcomers. I am not against doing fakemon, but we should create a seperate discussion for making them and stuff. This isn't really the place for them.
