aI lost a battle in the limited beta by drawing the last card in my deck, but I had just drawn it at the beginning of my turn. I thought that rule only applied if I could not draw a card from my deck at the beginning of my turn, so I am confused about whether it is a bug or if I’m in the wrong. But I could almost swear that in the TCG online you only lose if you fail at the beginning of your turn.

Yes, the rule book says that you win if "If your opponent has no cards in their deck at the beginning of their turn" therefore you should only loose if you cannot draw at the start of your turn.
