I like its first form. not a big fan of garbordor itself though.

I just now realized that Garbodor ends with odor. How did I not realize that?

I used to dislike it, and it was my least favourite Pokémon, but there was a Trubbish in PMDGtI I thought was nice and it made me realise I don't need a least favourite Pokémon. I can just like them all. Except Dusknoir

I like it. It's fine. Trubbish is fairly cute and simple, but I do think Garbodor is a little cluttered... maybe that's the point.

I think a lot of the hate for it came from the fact that Unova's entirely new regional dex upset a lot of people who wanted their old favourites back, and "they took away Pikachu and gave us literal garbage" is easy, persuasive rhetoric to a lot of people.

That and although Pokémon was probably at its creative peak at the time, it was a rather low point for the franchise in terms of sales. It had struggled to recover after the end of Pokémania and it hadn't yet had the boost from millennials aging back into the franchise with the nostalgia pandering of gen VI.

We didn't know how good we had it until it was gone.
