Ive lost a few games because i thought "im going to win in this turn i dont need to pull every ability and use every trainer" and then not realize that i screwed up my math and missed the ten damage i needed, lose my sweeper by an amount that could have been saved by bravery charm or switch cart, and then get reverse swept

It depends on the situation. Sometimes finishing the game as quickly as possible the second the opportunity arises can be the best play.
But equally, sometimes caution is warranted and it is better to take the slower, more cautious line of play to secure victory.
You don't want to waste anyone's time, but equally, you do not want to throw away a win with a hasty play.
Evaluate each situation on a case-by-case basis.
