At this point it was to get fans excited early but also keeping them unaware of the possibility of a johto or unova game next year like they were expecting so when they reveal them latter it will generate the same excitement

    Either it be taking place in the past or the distant future as far as I'm concerned.

    I think we won't get a Unova game until gen 10. I have no idea what's going to happen to Johto though.

    I feel like Kalos was chosen because we haven't gotten a game or DLC or literally anything in Kalos other than XY, and even that was left unfinished because they wanted to make a Z version that answers the unanswered questions from XY (and then not make it for another decade). Plus, it was the first full 3D Pokémon game so it would be nice if they're making it the first Pokémon game to actually get time to be made after a while because of that.

    @UnovanZorua we still might get a unova game because the only remake that was announced on Pokémon day was BDSP and that was probably to go along with legends arceus since kalos has nothing to do with unova they also might announce unova remakes in an April-July announcement
