I'm guessing you mean Gordie. This is a common issue with search cards that the devs either won't or can't fix, sadly. That said, stop playing Gordie. It's a terrible card.1 -

The devs don't play the game, so since "reveal" isn't in the text, they take that to literally mean you don't reveal1 -

I accidentally killed a shiny Hawlucha, because I thought some move (I can't remember which one) didn't kill, like Smart Strike. (I think Smart Strike does that.)1 -
