it could be from the opposing pokemon having a type immunity (example: ghost cant hit normal), the move having a prerequisite (example: fake out can be used only on the first turn a pokemon is on the…2 -

Another thing: If a super-effective attack deals no damage to a Pokemon that should have a disadvantage, I think there would be a little roll in the numbers or something that would cause the otherwis…1 -
