Sorry to say but "effects of attacks" are only things that affect the defending pokemon in different ways, such as poisoning them or placing damage counters and doesn't interact with C…5 -

Why did you check other Pokémon but didn't bother checking Spidops ex itself? Its Ability increases the Active Pokemon's retreat cost.5
