Switching a Pokemon to the bench removes effects of attacks on it, including its own attacks. That's intentional and not a bug. This is a common interaction.2 -

You can only retreat once per turn, and Beach Court only works for basics and only reduces the retreat cost by one. These are not bugs.2 -
