Professor Cherry Ep. 2: The mysterious noise
Hey guys! Professor Cherry back at it again! Also Known as the Bill Nye of Pokemon! Its night time in Paldea and boy is it scary! For example, after last episodes Tadbulb discovery, I caught a shiny Tadbulb and named her Tina Edison! Then it became night and all the other Bulbous friends started attacking me in unison for catching their sister.
Anyways, i set up camp by a tree and left my backpack outside when a mysterious pokemon was ruffling through my backpack! That's when I was whispering but not anymore because it's over! And i can finally figure out whats going on!
I head outside and see my backpack is on the ground. All the food is empty. And my rocks! I was gonna use that to make a fire starter. Well shove five hot dogs down my throat and call me Oscar Meyer! I've got a case of a thief on my hands!
I look through my backpack a little more. It's still warm. Then I see foot prints. I touch them with my finger, and it's warm and looks like charcoal. I search for more prints and see its going north to the desert of the south province area 5. I pack up and me and Tina head out. As we walk to the desert, we find that the prints are gone. Although the perpetrators is in sight.
I see a red pokemon. It's carrying a whole stack of berries. My berries. I approach it a little more and see its a small pokemon. It tosses five oran berries into its mouth and eats them without breaking a sweat.
I pull out my pokedex and get its information. It's a Charcadet!
Charcadet is in the category of the"Fire Child Pokémon" and belongs to the Human-Like Egg Group, meaning it is a humanoid elemental organism rather than an animal, meaning this is a unique pokemon! Its biological origin stems from a unique interaction where conscious fighting spirits imbue biogenic carbon masses, bringing them to life. Rather than developing through soft tissue, its anatomy is purely structured around mineral-based and thermodynamic systems.
The Anatomy of Charcadet is actually pretty cool. The organism's outer body consists of a rigid, highly porous exoskeleton made of compressed charcoal, which functions as its skin. This porous matrix acts as a crucial micro-ventilation network that bleeds off extreme internal gas pressures during physical exertion. A notable exception is the dense, non-porous carbon plate forming its protective face "visor," which insulates its delicate sensory organs from its 1,800°F (1,000°C) combustion core. So in short, it's carbon skin allows the heat to flow out of it easily!
I approach it a little more, but a group of Rookidees start pecking at me! As I shoo them away, I accidentally bring attention to myself. It's charging at me! This brings me to various behaviors!
(Says as running away from Charcadet) As you can see, It's overall very territorial! Juveniles leave their birthplace to take on rocky and vigorous mountains, treating its life like military training!
Whoo! I jumped behind a rock and it ran past me! That might have been a little stupid of it. Reckless maybe. You know? Actually what it did or tried to do is its biology!
During combat, they are very hot headed and challange travelers and larger pokemon. This aggressive behavior is actually a vital metabolic reflex. When it overeats lipid-rich berries, its internal pressure spikes to dangerous levels. It initiates battles not out of malice, but to forcefully vent excess thermal energy through high-powered Fire-type attacks, returning its core to a safe baseline.
Even with this behavior, they're actually really intelligent. They display a disciplined and calculated behavior when tracking down oil rich flora or coal veins for diet. As mentioned, they're territorial and mark canyon walls with scorched charcoal lines to warn others of their presence. Theyre also known to be stubborn, picking fights with superior opponents and will much rather faint than retreat.
But now that brings me to another point. If it doesn't like to retreat, then why did it steal my berries? Well, to the charild (charcoal + child. Get it?) it saw a bunch of berries gathered in one place. So then it took it as a gift or peace offering! Now let's get into its diet while its still away!
Lacking a traditional organic digestive tract, Charcadet is an oleaginous herbivore and lithivore that processes energy through pure combustion. It selectively forages for lipid-dense, oil-rich wild berries and seeds to fuel its internal plasma fire, while ignoring water-heavy foliage that could extinguish it. Additionally, it ingests raw coal and sulfur-rich minerals from canyon veins to repair and maintain its structural carbon shell. That's like a human drinking milk. It's good for the bone!
In the wild food web, Charcadet is an aggressive, territorial fighter that battles to expend excess thermal energy rather than to hunt. Because of its extreme heat, traditional flesh-eating predators like Zangoose or Pyroar avoid it, but it faces severe threats from Ground, Water, and Rock-type apex consumers. Massive Ground-types like Donphan crush its shell to smother its core, aquatic predators like Dondozo or maybe Gyarados induce fatal thermal shock with water torrents, and mineral-eating Sableye target its highly compressed carbon visor plates.
Charcadet’s cellular structure remains permanently locked in a juvenile state and cannot achieve traditional developmental growth on its own. Its branching evolution into Armarouge or Ceruledge requires an exogenous trigger via direct symbiotic integration with spiritually possessed mineral armor. Exposure to the Auspicious or Malicious Armor initiates an immediate, radical genetic shift that restructures its elemental properties into a secondary Psychic or Ghost type.
I think thats all of its main biology points. But I still would like to catch it one day! Oh garsh speak of the devil child. It's back! Now! Here's what to do when you encounter one! Observe the flame on its head! If its flickering and getting bright and large, or smells like sulfur, that means its spotted you!
Never run away from it! This shows a sign of desperation and weakness which they do not like! Its their way or the flare way! Instead, you can throw berries or dried nuts to distract! Never offer fresh water, juicy fruits, or water-heavy berries, as Charcadet see moisture-rich foods as a direct threat to its internal combustion fire and may strike out in self-defense.
If that's not an option, Battle! Since i have a Tadbulb that puts me at a disadvantage! With Tina having moist skin, the heat will dry her out. So Tina! Float above ground and use Thunderwave! This will prevent the flame from reaching Tina, and thunder wave will paralyze so we can make a quick get away! Just throw some berries and run!
Oh crap. So, im out of berries.
It's charging at me. I dont know what to do! I have one last card up my sleeve! Pokeball go!
(To be continued)
Ha! You think id leave you on a cliff hanger? Nah I'd only do that if I was gonna d1e or something awesome. I caught it with my own left pinky. Now I have a gluttonous little freak named Celcius on my hands. Anyways I hope you have a good day!
Last thing I want to ask. Ive already said that im gonna go to Mesagoza, but honestly, Artazon is pretty close. If i go to Mesagoza, I can get access to the West side and head to some caves. But if I head to Artazon, then I can find some more aquatic pokemon and get information from the townsfolk about contacting my crew, and maybe even research some stronger pokemon. But the choice is yours!

I tried to make it more comedy. With the Charcadet plot line, there was a lot more room for humor. Since it was more technical and a lot of more biological standpoints that were more creative, i wanted to make it less boring and more story driven which is what I want the other episodes to be
