Y'all mind if I just watch next week?

No problem with that! You can take my character if you want to join, but don't want to make one.

I'm good, but thanks for the offer! I just wanna watch and maybe ask a question or two so I can see how this version of Daggerheart works.

It's Daggerheart with two differences. Firstly instead of traditional Ancestry(ex: Orc, Human, Elf, etc), you're a Pokémon. Your chosen Ancestry would normally give you two perks so in our case, we get an ability perk(based on the ability our chosen species would know that is adapted to Daggerheart) and either a secondary ability or perk that is based on Dex entries. For me specifically, I got Snow Warning and Snow Cloak, with latter applying in Snowy terrain or when I activate Snow Warning.
The other difference is Pokémon moves. These are effectively bonus Domain cards by being moves we can use for 1-3 Hope(cost is predicated on the power of the move). While costly, they come with some unique perks. Firstly they ignore the hit check(no need to roll to hit) and secondly they utilize the Type chart so they can deal x2 or x4 the damage because it's a specific type of damage being dealt. So with me being an Ice type, I can dish out Ice moves that are effective against 4 Types(Flying/Ground/Grass/Dragon) with an added secondary effect of potential Frozen status. My species evolves into Ice/Fairy so when you factor in Fairy coverage, I can add Fighting and Dark to the list.
It also means the GM can use Pokémon moves back at us so it's a two way street. I got to watch it next fight because Ice doesn't like Steel(Ice doesn't like a lot of things).

You're a Rogue with no Finesse. What did you think would happen? 🤦🙅In any case, going to create a wall of Ice to generate a Shadow. I think you know what to do after I do that no?

I don't think you do. If I generate a Shadow, what does that permit you to do? Hint: Subclass

Just checking. I assume we're using the combat system from awhile back. Will try to get on laptop for this but I make no guarantees and may have to use tablet or phone for it heh.

Just wanted to add for those who participated in this session to take note of your Hope counts. The amount of Hope you have will come in handy next week because it's going to be another fight against what apparently is our first Boss fight(or mini-boss at minimum). Me and Catsuki are near the boss while the rest of you have to find a way to get near us to lend us aid(or any minions you might encounter along the way).
We may be using the old combat system we've used before in D&D but who knows if we will use something else. The old system uses a grid-like battlefield such that a square is 5-feet. 1 Square is Melee range, 3 Squares is Very Close, 6 Squares is Close, 12 Squares is Far and I think 30 Squares is Very Far. Your characters can move up to 6 squares when making a move but can use an action(via an Agility roll) to double it. Those with the Deft Maneuvers Domain card(Rangers and Warriors only because it's Bone Domain), can bypass the roll and attack at the end of the movement(but can only do this once). The ranges I noted above are what you use with your Equipment(aka Weapon) and Pokémon moves(which @clasingla needs to add *cough*). My Dualstaff, as an example, has a range of Far or a range of 12 squares. So long as a target is 12 squares away from me without any obstruction, I can attack the target (I suppose you can attack anyway if an Ally is in front but they may have to make a reaction roll 🤣).
I plan on giving Catsuki an edge by creating an Ice wall thick enough to generate a Shadow. This would also obscure vision for the opponent(granted Steel crushes Ice so how long it'll last I don't know) but I'd give Catsuki time to slip into it and use Shadow Stepper to disappear and reappear in the boss's shadow in a Cloaked state. This gives him opportunity to deal a Sneak Attack(Class Feature) that adds a D6 to his Damage roll. I suppose my Ice Wall could be considered helping an Ally too so a D6 to his Attack roll as well.
Combat isn't that hard but if you want a little demonstration, then this video might be helpful.
