What strategies do you find most effective when building a deck?
Everyone approaches deck building a little differently. Do you usually start with a favorite card and build around it, focus on consistency first, or experiment until something clicks? What's the biggest lesson you've learned since putting together your first deck?

Biggest pocket lesson for decks? That you need a template to start with. There's no getting around 2 oaks and 2 pokeballs-like usually and 1-3 of Cyrus-like or Sabrina-like cards. You require a basic Pokemon and likely need 5. And at least one EX if you want to win seriously.
So you're left with only about half the deck that you have free reign over. If you choose stage 2 knock off 2 more cards.
You CAN go against this template but you'll suffer a (big) con in consistency. The game more feels like 10 card plays making those choices much harder ro reason about.

Personally, I like to use synergy.
In my best decks every card has a purpose or a role to fill, they all work well with each other and don't counteract.1 -
In TCG Pocket tbh since I'm competitive... I mostly netdeck and then tweak the list to fit my playstyle and the current meta.
