you add the result together for its numerical value, if your hope dice rolled higher, the roll is "with hope" and you gain a hope. I fyou roll your fear higher, the roll is "with fear" and the gm gains a fear to spend. if both dice are the same the roll is a critical succes and you gain hope and remove stress or somthing.

correct you take the result that you get add any bonuses that apply the number you roll determines if you succseed or fail. if the hope dice is bigger you gain a hope, you can have up to 6 hope at a time, you can spend the hope to do different things. if you roll with fear i gain a fear i can spend fear to move the story go along create conflict and spotlight enemies. i can have up to 12 fear

Hope and Fear are two sides to the cosmic scale. Hope is basically good luck while fear is bad luck. If one is higher than the other then that side prevails on how smooth or rocky an action is. Critical success(rolling doubles) is best outcome followed by success with Hope, success with fear, failure with Hope and failure with fear in that order. Whether we succeed is based on difficulty of the roll, which we haven't been told so far but that's alright imo.
To succeed you basically meet or beat the difficulty. So if it's a difficulty of 15 and we roll a 15 with Hope, we succeed with Hope. Yet if we roll a 13 with fear, we fail with fear.
