What part of a Pokémon game do you always settle into after the early game?

There’s always that point where things start to feel comfortable. Your team is coming together, you’re not scrambling anymore, and you kind of find your rhythm. What does that part of the game look like for you? How do you usually play once you get there?

I get arrogant and challenge every Pokemon and Trainer possible
But then I remember I don't carry Potions and have to run back to a Pokemon Center
It continues like this until my team is just a bit over leveled

I start becoming a tyrant in the 9th area of most game(when you got just enough badges to brag but not enough to live up to the talk)
