If you could make a new regional form for a first partner Pokémon, who gets it and what changes?

Pick a classic first partner and give it a fresh twist. Which one are you choosing, and how would you redesign it? Would the typing change? Would the final evolution take on a totally different theme or inspiration? Maybe it evolves differently in this region, or its personality shifts with the environment.
