    I don't think this would be considered a hot take, especially here, but since everyone else is discussing which starters they think are the worst:

    Charmander is the worst starter. Not just because of how much attention it gets compared to other starters, but also I personally think it and its evoltions designs are really boring in a bad way.

    Not HORRIBLE, just really, really boring in a way I don't think looks nice.

    I dislike the Froakie line but at least the Froakie line looks pretty good. Charmander is just really plain.

    Gen 8 starters are cool. For me it was actually a tough starter choice.

    Bipedal pokemon (especially starters) are not that bad. It's just really good anime fuel and we get masterpieces like the Armorouge Ceruledge poketoon, Breathe out episode 2 of paldean winds, and floragato in horizons search for laqua. (I haven't seen the newer one past the time skip yet.) If they are not Bipedal, then there is less hand-to-hand combat and it's just disappointing. Unless they levitate, or stand on two legs, the battles are underwhelming.

    Greninja is a lame design that everyone hyped up because of the anime.
