You're probably just lagging out, the game has a real issue with that kind of thing. Your opponent is probably spamming emotes because they think you're trying to timer stall them.1 -

Mystical Return Issues
i used mystical return twice and flipped heads both times, the opponents pokemon was not shuffled and remained on the field. It was a lugia Vstar deck, am I missing something or is the game broken?1 -
