Tumberlin, in the current state of PTCGL you have to play with friends (proper ones) only if You want to get the kind of fun You talking about. And I guess such advice acceptable to the real TCG as well. Or You need the draft mode if it exist somewhere out of PTCGL.

What helps me (or at least I hope it helped). I enter on my account page on pokemon.com via third browser (Microsoft Edge or something like it). Then I logged out and start the game. Just tried to load the Google Play page on cell phone through mobile Internet and the page is opened. And there was the short message that PTCGL is unavailable in my country. Don't know is this information valid right now or not. It would be nice to hear something concrete from PTCGL developers about "worldwide" beta.

Don't know about Africa but Europe is pretty tricky region these days. And that's the problem.
