I love how the more you research about the background behind many Pokémon, the more cultured you're able to become. For instance, Kami is the “forces of nature” in the world of Pokémon this is clearly depicted in the “Kami Quartet” that is made up of Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, and Enarmous who was later introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, representing love and spring/fertility.These legendary Pokémon are direct representations of the Shinto gods Fujin, Raijin, and Inari. The franchise’s most iconic figure Pikachu is a representation of Shinto’s Raiju. All done from the greatest respect as Pokémons creator Satoshi Tajiri religious beliefs align with the cultural and spiritual traditions native to Japan, broadly reflecting a secular or Shinto-Buddhist worldview. This is why kami—spirits inhabiting nature, weather, and physical objects—heavily influences overall Pokémon design philosophy.
