Legends is a different kind of game. Battle Tower wouldn’t make much sense in that world, but interesting character development absolutely would. Dreadnaw’s shiny colors are great. One of my all time favorites! Others are the more popular Rayquaza, Metagross, and Greninja! They are all outstanding as well.

So, I’m thinking Steel and Fighting types. I’d say Dragon as the third type, but I don’t see Game Freak doing 3 new Eeveelutions in one generation. Fighting (Chempeon?) has been needed to balance out Espeon & Umbreon since gen 2. Meanwhile Steel type (Beameon?) seems like it should have come with Leafon and Glaceon in gen…

I agree, trainer rematches were fun. As well, I liked XD / Gale of Darkness where you had to beat 100 trainers to unlock the legendary.

Shiny hunting has been given a boost in more recent generations, which has in turn led to more people willing to invest the time. This in turn has boosted the games’ longevity. Currently, PLA and SV are the most fun for shiny ✨ hunting. It’s still hard work, but it doesn’t feel as hopeless as it used to.

I didn’t get into Pokémon until later in gen 3 with Sapphire. I picked Mudkip, and it’s held a special place in my heart ever since!
