The effect of Dig says "…prevent all damage from—and effects of—attacks done to this Pokémon" unless it is a bug, and it intends to protect you from support cards, i believe it means only the effects of the attacks. An example is like an attack causing Sleep, or Poison. it would protect from the side effect of the attack.
