Yes you can. If you delete your Trainer Club account and make a "new" one with the same Email, it'll ask you for a screen name when you log into the forums, but it'll be the same account, with everything but the screen name (and the password/real username if you want) unchanged.

Hold on... If you delete your account that sounds like you risk losing everything, even if you use the same email

No, for some reason. If you use the same Email, it's the same account, with the same comments and posts and activity and avatar, I think. I'll check.

Okay, I can't check, but that's how it worked when I tried to delete an old account and use its Email to make a new one. It just renamed the account.
