What do you mean by this question? Could Pokémon games have been developed and released in the 80s? Or do you mean to ask whether we could have a Pokémon game set in the Pokémon world's equivalent of the 80s? Because I feel the answer to the latter is obviously yes. Perhaps it is a little late for 80s nostalgia, though, as…

However, the past decade of games have grappled with low framerates, culminating in the slideshow we saw in the SV trailer. Assuming we see real gameplay in the trailer, the…

I approve of more formats. I think it is good that players have something else to play when they don't want to play the main format, be it due to frustrations with the meta, wanting to play a specific deck that wouldn't otherwise be viable or just fancying a bit of a change.

If you are finding the game too easy, you could always try putting some restrictions on yourself. Catch a new team after every gym. Don't evolve your Pokémon. Something like that. It would be nice if we could just disable the exp. share, as we could in XY or SM. But for some reason we have to work around Game Freak's game…

The energy zone does not give consistent energy by design, unless you only select one type. The disadvantage of playing multiple types is that your energy will be inconsistent. Otherwise everyone would play multi-type piles of the best cards, and there would be no advantage to playing monotype. This is a feature, not a bug.
