Lolwut. The vast majority of Charizard cards are trash. We get multiple of them a year and this one is the first one to be meta in about 4 years. Then before that... Like, no idea. Were there any good ones in all of BW or XY?

Cards that can't be played in Standard have rotated. Cards that can't be played in Expanded are either banned or not implemented into the game yet. No ETA on them being implemented. Pre-BW cards from Celebrations are permanently unplayable.

They always introduce mechanics that only last one generation, year, or even set. You could ask this question about a million things. Even the Dark Sylveon V above is a Pokémon V, which is a depreciated mechanic already no longer made even though it was introduced only about 4 years ago.
