That's not a bug. You can't play a card for no effect, so you can't play a deck search card when you have no cards in deck. You lost because you didn't know/understand game rules. A lesson for the future.

So first of all the mods are still useless. Second, you had DTE attached when you declared the attack right? That's why. It reduces the damage you do by 20. The discard effect of the attack doesn't prevent this.
